Attendance |
Good attendance habits must be maintained to keep up with the classes. This is done for the benefit of both the student and the entire class. Poor attendance slows down the class progress because of the need to repeat prior lessons. If a student misses more than 1/3 of their classes she/he will not be eligible for a trophy at the recital. **Missed classes will be made up at the instructor’s discretion within one month of the absence. There are no discounts given for missed classes. |
Attire/Uniform |
Students must dress in a uniform manner for class. No attachments, prints & skirts are allowed. (See Required Dancewear) No jewelry, sweat pants, t-shirts, shorts, costumes, tutus, or street clothes are allowed in class.
Instructors may request students to remove inappropriate items as listed above. If the student does comply with the instructors request then they may not participate in class. A letter will be sent home if the uniform policy is not consistently being followed.
Hair should be neat and pulled away from the face. **Ballet students should pull hair into a bun when possible. |
Cancellations/Withdrawals |
You may withdraw from any or all classes at any time by giving a written notice to the studio no later than the 15th of the month. If written notice is not received by the 15th of the month then you are responsible for the next month’s tuition payment. If a costume deposit has been made you are responsible for the balance even if your child will not perform in the recital. |
Costumes |
Costumes are required if your child is participating in the recital. Once the costumes are ordered you are responsible for the entire cost. 3 payments are made for the costumes #1 is $30.00 per class due by September 23th. #2 of $30.00 is due October 21th The final costume payment is due by November 20th for about $20.00. Early Childhood Program |
Pre-Gym, Terrific Twos, Tiny Tots, Creative Tots, Creative Movement, Creative Stars and Rising Star parents or guardians must remain at the studio during their child's class. Children in the Early Childhood Program are often new to a classroom setting and being away from their parents. Children can occasionally become tired, stressed, or out of sorts. It is reassuring to know that someone is there if they need them. Bathroom trips often become necessary and an instructor cannot leave an entire class to facilitate one child's needs. Nothing is more distressing to a child than looking for an absent parent in a time of need. We are sure that you will agree that this policy has your child's best interests at heart. Together we can make their time at JCDA a positive and enriching experience. ** Students should be picked up inside their classroom at the end of class. |

Lateness |
We understand that being late is sometimes unavoidable. Arriving late to a class can be disruptive, especially in the Early Childhod Program. The class loses concentration when a student enters late and it takes a few minutes to get back on track.
A student who is more than 15 minutes late for class may be asked to observe the class rather than participate. The final decision is at the sole discretion of the instructor. This is not done as a disciplinary measure, but for safety – especially where higher level classes are concerned. A student who misses the first few exercises runs the risk of being injured by not being properly “warmed-up”. If you child is consistently late for class a letter will be sent home.
***Students who are picked up more than 15 minutes after the end of their class will be assesed a $5.00 late fee for every portion of 15 minutes there after. |
