Attendance

Good attendance habits must be maintained to keep up with the classes. This is done for the benefit of both the student and the entire class. Poor attendance slows down the class progress because of the need to repeat prior lessons. If a student misses more than 1/3 of their classes she/he will not be eligible for a trophy at the recital. **Missed classes will be made up at the instructor’s discretion within one month of the absence. There are no discounts given for missed classes.

Attire/Uniform

Students must dress in a uniform manner for class. No attachments, prints & skirts are allowed. (See Required Dancewear) No jewelry, sweat pants, t-shirts, shorts, costumes, tutus, or street clothes are allowed in class.

Instructors may request students to remove inappropriate items as listed above. If the student does comply with the instructors request then they may not participate in class.

Hair should be neat and pulled away from the face. **Ballet students should pull hair into a bun when possible.

Cancellations/Withdrawals

You may withdraw from any or all classes at any time by giving a written notice to the studio no later than the 15th of the month. If written notice is not received by the 15th of the month then you are responsible for the next month’s tuition payment. If a costume deposit has been made you are responsible for the balance even if your child will not perform in the recital.

Costumes

Costumes are required if your child is participating in the recital. Once the costumes are ordered you are responsible for the entire cost. A costume deposit of $35.00 per class is due by October 1st. The final costume payment is due by November 10th. Any costume paid after the 10th will be assessed a $10.00 late fee.  JCDA must be notified in writing by November 1st if a student will not participate in the recital. If you do not give notification to the studio by November 1st you will responsible for the full costume amount.

**A sizing letter and costume balance will be emailed by the first week of November.  It is the parent's responsibility to make sure the size is appropriate for thier child and return the signed form.  If the form is not returned to the studio we will order the size listed on the sizing sheet.  If the costume does not fit when delivered the parent will incur all costs for replacement, exchange or alteration.

Early Childhood Program

Parents of childrenin the Early Childhood Program must remain at the studio during their child's class.  Nothing is more distressing to a child than looking for an absent parent in a time of need. We are sure that you will agree that this policy has your child's best interests at heart. **Students should be picked up  in their classroom at the end of their class. Together we can make their time at JCDA a positive and enriching experience.

Lateness

We understand that being late is sometimes unavoidable. Arriving late to a class can be disruptive, especially in the Early Childhod Program.  The class loses concentration when a student enters late and it takes a few minutes to get back on track.

A student who is more than 15 minutes late for class may be asked to observe the class rather than participate.   The final decision is at the sole discretion of the instructor.  This is not done as a disciplinary measure, but for safety – especially
where higher level classes are concerned. A student who misses the first
few exercises runs the risk of being injured by not being properly “warmed-up”.

***Students who are picked up more than 15 minutes after the end of their class will be assesed a $5.00 late fee for every portion of 15 minutes there after.

Missed Classes

Any missed classes may be made up within one month of the missed class. See your child’s instructor to schedule a make-up class. No refunds or discounts will be given for missed classes.

Other

JCDA reserves the right to dismiss any student for failure to comply with studio
regulations or for behavioral problems. Tuition will not be refunded.

Class viewing is at the instructor’s discretion.

Non-students are not to be left at the studio unaccompanied by an adult.

Parents must keep JCDA informed of addres, telephone and email changes.

The policies and procedures may be amended at any time without notice.
Changes will be posted on the website and on the studio bulletin board.
