  • Financial obligations 

  • Do I have to stay in the dance school while my child takes class?

    • If your student is in our early childhood program (Ages 2-5) You need to stay at the dance studio during your student’s class. 

    • If your student is in Level 1 and above you do not need to stay at the studio while your student is in class.

  • When can my child start pointe? 

    • The minimum age for pointe is 12 but your student’s ballet teacher will asses each student and let you know when they are ready. While some students may be 12 they may not be ready for pointe shoes. 

  • Is there parking? 

    • We have a Parking Lot on the side of the building. It is the lot between Armstrong Ave and Van Nostrand Ave 

  • Do I have to buy my dance wear through JCDA? 

  • Recital 

    • The Recital is your student’s big end of year performance on stage with costumes. It is held on a Saturday in June. We break the Recital into 2 different shows. Show 1 is for students who take any class on Saturday. Show 2 if for students who take any class during the week days. 

    • Recital is not mandatory but the decision to be in recital must be made by October to order costumes in time. 

  • What is Picture Day? 

    • Picture day is when your student wears their recital costume to the studio and you have the option for your student to take a professional group photo with their dance class and you can choose for your student to take individual pictures with out professional photographer as well. 

  • What is Winter Extravaganza?

    • Winter Extravaganza is an in studio informal performance that happens before we go on Winter Break in December. Each class will perform a dance at the end of each of their classes. Families and friends are invited to come into the class room and watch your student’s hard work! 

  • How to become a Dance Company Member? 

    • Dance Company is an Audition based program. We hold Dance Company auditions at the beginning of each Dance Year in September. If your student is accepted into the Dance Company they are required to take Ballet and Jazz Classes in addition to the Dance Company rehearsals. 

  • What if my child misses class. Are make-up classes available?

    • Your Student is able to make up the class you missed on the alternate day of the class if there is one available. If there is not the same class offered on a different day, your student is able to make up the class with a comparable level class. Please let the desk know what class you will be making up and when you plan to come to the make up class. 

  • Can I watch my child’s class?

    • We typically ask parents to refrain from being in the classroom so the students can stay focused and so all students feel comfortable. We will sometimes have teachers open the door at the end of class so you can see what your student has been working on. We also will invite in early childhood parents on certain specified days. 

  • What is the Parent Portal?
